For those of you who have contacted me here or by email saying you'd like sourdough starter, I'll have it ready for you either at church on Sunday or by pickup on Monday. I'll include a recipe for my Sourdough Banana Bread, but you can use it for a whole world of baked goods!
I lost a whole day this week with a horrendous migraine, but today was much better and I made four other people here (and maybe a few at Bible study tonight) smile with some homemade sourdough banana bread. It's one of those few things Granny makes that the kids are not so willing to share unless I've made a dozen loaves. Let's just say that I don't usually bother freezing any of it.
And I should mention here that if any of you who live close enough to me for a pickup would like some of my sourdough starter, which will be 15 years old this fall and has been on three continents, let me know a few days ahead of time and I'll "grow" you a batch and you can come and get it and enjoy some great sourdough breads, biscuits, pancakes, you name it. And if you wonder how I got it safely to another continent, I can tell you that when you pick it up :-)
On Granny's deck....it was all about the eggs! Our friends Jacob and Zachary joined us for an afternoon of dying and decorating (and in some cases eating!) Easter eggs. We ended with a burgers-n-dogs cookout on a lovely spring evening...
