Last night I was mentioning to Lyric that I don't remember feeling this bad about the direction of our country since Bill Clinton's first election. In '92 I woke up "the morning after" almost paralyzed, and barely able to carry on the school day. My biggest concern then was the Supreme Court: I remember talking to a church member who was a Clinton supporter and telling her that having him as the president for four years (LOL) wasn't nearly as bad as knowing that he would appoint justices who would serve
for life. Another election wouldn't undo that.
So, though there are few silver linings this morning, I am thankful that President Bush was able to nominate and see confirmed two excellent Supreme Court justices, seats that are not "undone" by this election. I am sad that this probably ends the chances that any more solid conservative judges will be confirmed in the next two years, but as I wrote below, God is in control and His will will not be thwarted.
I move into "the day after" sad but not despairing.
"He's got the whole world in His hands."
