Who is Granny?

I'm the incredibly blessed mother of 9, "Granny" to 16, and wife of "The Papa," the knight-in-shining-armor whose loving support has made it possible for me to stay home and give my life to mothering, homemaking, and 26 years of homeschooling. Life at Granny's House is full of laughter, friendship, books, music, lively debate, writing, and good things to eat. My days are made even more meaningful by coming alongside other moms, giving them the support and encouragement that I lacked as a young mother and helping them to network with each other in ways that strengthen homes and families. A few times a year I board a plane to visit my "away" kids, to attend the birth of a grandchild, or to enjoy some lazy days with my best friend, but I always love coming back to...Granny's House.

    a most welcome gift...
    I arrived home from a crazy long day of errands yesterday to find this beautiful centerpiece waiting for me...a gift from two of my daughters and their families. I'll be carrying it from room to room today as I finish getting ready for the holidays; I can barely stand to have it out of my sight! What a blessing it will be to have the gleam of the candle through the steeple during these next few days!

    And another blessing is that our California family will arrive tonight! Some of the crew have never been here, never met this branch of the family tree, so it will be a very meaningful visit to have them with us for Christmas. It's the kind of blessing that magnifies the meaning of Christmas and makes the holidays this year extra-special for the San Antonio branch...
