I promise not to belabor this message in future posts, as the purpose of this blog is not business. But I have installed an ad in my left sidebar for my little proofreading business, An Elegant Proof. (Those of you who know that I'm also a math lover will see the play on words here.) I've told some of you from time to time that proofreading and even light editing is a very relaxing, enjoyable activity for me and many times helps me to unwind at the end of a physically or emotionally draining day. Yes, some of you have found that hard to believe, but I assure you it's true.

In recent years it's also become a great comfort to have things to do that I can do from bed or chair when pain makes it difficult to be on my feet. And of course electronic transmission has been a huge boost to anyone dealing in the written word, including me.

So...I've decided to formalize my services a bit and at the same time earn a little pocket change by doing what I love. As you can see from the ad, I will proofread and edit (usually only a light edit) just about anything you have written. No, kids, I will not write a research paper for you, nor will I change yours substantially...but if your mom and dad okay it, I'll work with you on how to make it better! And you homeschool parents, if you'd like some help evaluating your child's writing and would like some suggestions on areas for improvement, I can do that on a one-time basis or quarterly, etc.

I'd prefer to work through email and attachments, but if you have an aversion to the keyboard and would rather work through the mail, that's okay too as long as you're not in a big hurry! Those of you who are lucky enough to live near the real Granny's House might want to work with me in person.

Word of mouth helps this kind of business more than anything, so feel free to spread the word. If I get swamped, which I don't really expect, I'll post a big STOP sign on the blog.

EXCEPT: If you're one of the folks that I've already promised a free proofing job before I decided to go for the big bucks LOL...don't panic. You're grandfathered "grandmothered" in. You know who you are :-)
