I have an amazing son. John Caleb turned 15 today, and he decided to spend his last day of being 14 baking his first pies. Not just baking, but mixing crust, rolling, making filling and shaping the pies. Did I mention he was 14? His first pies, a peach and a blueberry-peach, looked better than many of my pies after years of practice. And he did all this with not a stitch of help from anyone other than 8-year-old Warren, who helped him stir the filling.
Rolling out and shaping his first crusts ever...
Helping Warren get the filling ready....
Filling the pies....
Ready for the oven...isn't it great?
Making the whole house smell good...
...and the finished product! I am so proud of John Caleb!
Happy birthday, John Caleb...and I hope the next year brings a lot more pies!
