At the same time I'm hard at work on planning the next school year. I've gotten as far as solidifying what each of my three students will be "taking" in the fall, and I've done some of the ordering. I've also registered my sophomore for her online classes, which will include French, chemistry, and her second year of the Great Books Tutorial. Usually by now I have an academic calendar completed, with holidays, breaks, and total days in place. Not so this year...I'm a real slacker I guess. But I'm pleased to report that my malaise of two weeks ago has passed and I have regained the motivation to move forward! In the next few days I hope to have all the necessary books and supplies on order and at least get started on pasting the year's assignments into Edu-Track.
This week also starts the summer session of piano and Tae Kwondo lessons, meaning it's back in the van for me! And just in time, we've had fresh body work and engine work done on the van and it's ready for a summer of taxi'ing and vacationing...
Then, of course, this is a big birthday month in our tribe, so we have lots to keep us busy with gifts, parties, and other activities. Why I ever expect a slow-down in June I'm not sure! But at least it's a change from the routine of September through May and I so enjoy the break. I've said before that I could never be a round-the-year homeschooler...my psyche wouldn't allow it. I would never be able to approach the beginning of a new school year without the definite end of the old one and a nice stretch to get perspective, new ideas, and a change in routine. By late August, I can hardly wait!
In the meantime, I'm enjoying the smell of all that fresh paint and the opportunity to clean behind the furniture!
