Can we really be a third of the way through JUNE already? Oh my goodness, I'm beginning to panic about how fast the summer is going, and it's not even summer yet!
I'd love to invite you over to Granny's House. But please don't expect to have a place to sit. The couch in the living room is upside down, being repaired...the family room is all a-jumble, the furniture having been moved to the middle of the room for the painting to start tomorrow morning. So yeah, come on over and we'll sit on my bed.
I'm amazed that the chaos hasn't really gotten to me. The guys have been really good about getting things put back, and it's given me a chance to clean behind things that haven't been moved in a long time. When we finally get all the painting done I'll know that all the corners are clean!
Tomorrow I'll go and make the final carpet decisions and hopefully schedule the installation. We're waiting until the carpet is in to put the baseboards back, and they'll all be new and fresh and bright white. My goal is to get it all done before our July vacation, but like I said, did you know that we're a third of the way through June already???
This morning we were treated to a rare and lovely surprise. Some dear friends of ours who live in north Texas drove down and met us at church and then we all went to dinner together. Carl and Doris are like second parents to me and were like grandparents to our "A team" during the Air Force years. Carl was a chaplain (one of the good guys!) in the AF, and is now pastoring. Seeing them again and having them worship with us was an indescribable treat! Here's a picture of them with our pastor's wife :-)
Friday night we celebrated Bethany's 17th birthday and her graduation with a deck party here at the House. Around 75 of our family and friends helped us honor the newest alumna of our homeschool. Together we enjoyed BBQ, sweets galore, a bonfire, the strains of Nathan's band, and yes, a surprise rain shower that is so characteristic of this year's weather. Nothing, though, can dampen our pride in our lovely daughter and our pleasure in the woman she's becoming...
Okay you'll have to excuse me...the NBA finals are on and I have to get back to cheering...
