This is the good part.

Can we just park here for a day or two?

Vacation with our kids and grandkids starts tomorrow. All the work is now done, and we're even leaving the house pretty clean (other than the part of my room that didn't get vacuumed before the belt broke). Now it's time to sit back and savor what's to come.

We talk often about how the best part is right before we get together. It's all still ahead of us. Once we actually meet and check in at our lodge, the clock is ticking on the week, and before we know it, it's a memory book. So sometimes I wish I could freeze these pre-vacation moments in time...not forever, of course, or we'd never get to enjoy it...but just for a couple of days.

But in God's incredible wisdom, time marches on. We can't freeze it, so we must learn to appreciate it. Anticipation is a gift, only slightly less valuable than the beautiful experiences it foreshadows....

When next you hear from me, part of the long-awaited week will already be gone, but I'm sure I'll have wonderful photos to share!
