One of the sweet parts of the vacation so far was our stop in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, for lunch on our way to Tennessee. We were able to have a short visit with my Uncle Jack (last living sibling of my late father) and Aunt Mary, and my cousin Pam whom I hadn't seen in 20 years.
Uncle Jack is 90 and in frail health, but he carried on a vigorous conversation about all he's been reading lately...he is nearly blind but shares my love of audio books! When I closed my eyes and listened to him talk, he hardly seemed different than 20 or 30 years ago...
Aunt Mary delighted me with her hospitality and wit...and I don't think she's changed a bit since I was a kid...
Sweet Pam is the cousin I spent my early years idolizing...and it's no different after all this time. A few minutes with her and you know why she's been so good at teaching Kindergarten all these years!
Her treat to my kids was bringing her eight new Basset pups to lunch :-)
Some of our kids, we're not sure just how many, had never even met our Arkansas family, so it was a joyful first meeting!
Thanks to Uncle Jack, Aunt Mary, and Pam for making new memories with us!
