My current responsibilities (read: being a keeper at home) have left me with little time to continue the Palin/women's roles discussion here or even to read most of what's being written. What little I've read grieves me as I watch Christians decide for other Christians at what age a young woman can leave home, whether a woman can earn any money and whether that has to be inside her four walls, whether a woman can hire a man and be his "boss" for any reason, and whether a woman can work with one child but not with five. The lines we draw for other people without explicit Biblical commands are truly stunning to me.

Since getting ready for the new school year has pre-empted my secondary desire to answer some of the questions asked in the comments and to read more widely on the topic, I'm going to link to a post by someone else. I found it in a roundabout way this time: last night, Lyric alerted me to a discussion over at Amy's Humble Musings, and I've read through the post and a great many of the 200+ comments with great interest. In the comments, someone had linked to another post that I believe speaks to much of where my heart is.

As a disclaimer, and I'm big on disclaimers LOL, I will say that I do not always agree with Doug Wilson and can't just wholeheartedly endorse everything on his blog. But on this topic I believe he's approached the balance that expresses my own heart. So I point you there and ask you to consider what he's said. Feel free to come back and comment here...
